Compositions | Multiple Dacron™ strings |
All our bow strings are made from several strands of Dacron, a synthesised polyester with a little stretch. They come waxed and wrapped in polyester thread at both ends to form loops and in the center to form a nocking point.
If you want to increase the life of your string, you can add a little bit of wax. Wax will protect the string from moisture while also keeping the threads together.
Strings may eventually appear ratty or worn. Replace the string when this happens. A new bow string is cheaper than replacing a broken bow from a string snapping!

If you want to replace a string for a bow that we don't sell, simply measure the current bow string and purchase the string within 2" of the original. If you haven't got the string, we suggest coming to see us at our Larp Inn Showroom or get in contact and ask us to bring a suitable selection to a Larp event. Measuring the bow doesn't always provide accurate sizing because the curvature varies a lot.
When not in use, keep your bow unstrung to increase its life. Never release the string on a bow without an arrow, since the shock of the shot will be absorbed by the bow and might cause damage.
